Our last blog post took a look at Shelley and Lewis’ wedding at Ellenborough park. This time we’re stepping out of Cheltenham a little way for Zoe and Dan’s wedding. Part of our wedding photography principles are that we aim to capture emotion, humour and those special moments in our images. Whether the images are more staged or more of a reportage style, we’re always aiming to capture pictures that define the day for each couple. Zoe and Dan had a day full of character and so we aimed to bring that through as much as possible in the photographs. I started with some bridal prep while Mike did a quick bit of groomsmen prep before heading to the church to meet with Dan when he arrived. When Zoe arrived at the church the weather was looking a little ominous but was still on our side. We photographed the ceremony and then headed back outside for some confetti.. but the weather had different plans for us! Without warning it all went torrential…Zoe and Dan had left the church to the theme tune from Friends and at this point I couldn’t help but be reminded of the line ‘I’ll be there for you…when the rain starts to pour!’
The reception was held at a village hall just down the road from the church. Every personal touch imaginable had been added to the hall to make it completely unique. After playing a bit of a guessing game with the weather (the showers had been stopping and starting for the afternoon) we found a dry spell to capture a few group shots outside. There was a great collection of garden games outside making for some brilliant action shots of the guests having a good time. All in all the day was great fun, and even with the rain it still didn’t put a damper (!) on the celebrations. Take a look below for a handful of some of my favourite shots from the day.
