Ellenborough Park in Cheltenham holds a special place in my heart as it’s where my parents once had their wedding reception. It’s a stunning venue and a wonderful place to work as a wedding photographer. The staff are also mega-organised which is always helpful!
Today I’d like to share a photograph that’s a little outside my usual territory while staying true to my overall “style”.
As you’ll know if you’ve seen my work on this website, my wedding photography is based primarily around reportage / documentary / candid shots. Things that happen “in the moment”, with very little posing or staging.
I do, however, also offer couple shots and group shots, which (while not obligatory) most couples tend to have some of. Usually not many, as most people book me for my relaxed, non-staged style. But typically a few are requested.
This couple asked if they could spend some time around the grounds of Ellenborough Park having some photographs together, so as always I set about creating directed images that perhaps don’t feel too “posed”.
Here I’ve taken the simple idea of them walking hand in hand, but I liked having the out of focus grass in the foreground to give the image a bit of depth and dimension.
