It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these! It’s great to be back though and I’ve got plenty of wonderful moments to share with you all over the coming weeks, starting with this one.
Last Summer I had the great pleasure of photographing a wedding in the middle of a field somewhere in the countryside (with some fantastic views too). It was easily one of the highlights of last year, and quite possibly one of the highlights of my entire time photographing weddings.
The couple had made it clear before the day that they didn’t want to spend ages posing in front of the camera. They wanted to enjoy their day and have me there to capture it.
This is pretty much what most couples feel when they book me for their wedding photography; yes, I do still capture groups and couple shots but for the vast majority of the day it’s about getting the day preserved for the bride and groom to remember the special “little” moments. The stories, the emotions, the people.
The wedding ceremony ended with a fantastic confetti run (providing me with another of my absolute favourite shots of 2018) and the bride and groom headed for the bottles of bubbly with guests in hot pursuit.
As the bride gave an impromptu ‘cheers!’ I was up close amongst the guests and had the opportunity to capture this moment. It pretty much epitomises how I like to capture weddings – from the perspective of a guest and in a way that will stay true to bride and groom’s memories of the day when they look back at the images.
