A great deal can happen in twelve months.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that as a wedding photographer I go from one wedding to the next, edit the photographs, get them out to clients and move on. You’d also be very far from the truth thinking that.
My family always say to me ‘we wish we had more photographs of you – you’re always taking the pictures!’ – they’re right, I love to take photographs and I’m very rarely in any because I’m always the one behind the camera. I’ve got a strange opinion about that though; each time I press the shutter it’s a memory exactly the way I saw it captured forever. I feel like I’m in every photograph I take because of this. It’s my personality in the way I’ve taken the picture.
When it comes to weddings it’s very hard to detach myself from the images – I genuinely care about each one; although I may have only met you briefly before the wedding, or even on the day itself, I spend 10 hours or so capturing one of the biggest days of your life. I look for the emotion and the stories to tell. I try to understand the relationships to help me anticipate those special moments. It’s impossible for me not to care.
So, every year, around this time I set myself the challenge to look through every edited photograph I’ve taken at a wedding and put together the story for the past twelve months.
This year’s story is one of my favourites.
Please take 5 minutes to watch the year unfold. Sit back, go full screen and turn the volume up. I really hope you enjoy this look back on a wonderful 2017.
