Clearwell Castle was recently mentioned in a Venue Visits posts, and here we have a shot from that same blog. Like many of the What it Means to Me pictures, they’re usually for me about the story that’s being conveyed as opposed to the technicalities of an image. This is completely the case with this image. It’s a very simple photography of three girls looking out from some steps over the main driveway at Clearwell Castle, with the bulk of the castle being to their backs. The picture was taken about 5 minutes after some rain just after the ceremony, so everyone else was back inside waiting for things to brighten up.
This is not a ‘traditional’ wedding photograph, and as with a lot of my images nothing has been staged here. The three girls are simply looking out over towards the fountain. For me, the shot suggests the huge expanse of the grounds of Clearwell Castle being a colossal playground for these kids for their imaginations to run riot.
