Door 7: Friends
You may well recognise this particular photograph as it sat on my homepage slideshow for quite some time. I’m very fond of the expressions in this image, so it was quite difficult to move it away from the slideshow when the time came. I initially had the image in black and white and used that for my portfolio, but revisiting it today I’ve decided that I actually much prefer this colour version. I wish I could put into words why that’s the case because I honestly have no clue, but I suppose that’s the great thing about art.
Anyway, here’s a shot from the wonderful Bailbrook House Hotel in Bath. Shortly before the wedding breakfast the couple had a traditional receiving line to greet the guests into the room. I remember in Summer 2015 a master of ceremonies said something along the lines of ‘You must hate receiving lines, they’re a photographer’s nightmare aren’t they?‘
Safe to say I didn’t know what they meant at the time, and I still don’t really know. I love this part of the day (although it does seem to be a tradition that is fading with time). It’s a fantastic opportunity to get some real, heartfelt greetings from the guests. This particular wedding had a load of pictures from this portion of the day that I was really pleased with as everyone was so enthusiastic and happy. This is one of my favourites!
