Welcome to my blogvent Calendar. A series of posts based on wedding photography pictures that stand-out in my memory from the past year for one reason or another, 1 post for each day of the advent calendar. I love every wedding I photograph, so here are some moments that I particularly enjoyed looking back on. You may have seen some of the images on my portfolio or in my other blogs. All posts are being filed under the ‘What it Means to Me’ category. EXIF info in the captions for fellow photographers, or those of you purely interested in wedding photography technical details.

Door 18: Wedding Hugs
Fujifilm X-Pro 2 – 16mm 1.4 – 1/10sec – f/8.0 – ISO8,000 – EF-X20 Flash
Only 1 week to go!
Today we celebrate the last of the countdown to Christmas with some wedding hugs. This photograph was taken from a wedding at Dumbleton Hall in Evesham. At this point in the day the bride and groom (pictured above) had just finished their first dance. After guests flooding the dance floor they both shared hugs with the bride’s father and the groom’s new mother in law.
This is the sort of image that I live for in my wedding photography – it’s completely real, candid and emotional. Not only that, but I’m pleased to have both the bride and groom engaging in their own little moments.
Photographers will notice that I was flying especially close to the wind with my shutter speed on this one – 1/10th of a second is about as slow as I’ll go when I’m dragging the shutter in evening reception photographs. Nonetheless, the flash managed to freeze the immediate action and was firing at a high enough power to capture the bride as well, despite being slightly further away from the groom. Bonus points for the bride’s wedding ring too!
