Door 14: Bride Walking to the Ceremony
Fujifilm X-Pro 2 – 23mm 1.4 – 1/125sec – f/2.2 – ISO 5,000
I regularly rave about how much I love Manor by the Lake in Cheltenham, and here we are again. This picture has done the rounds on several social media platforms over the past couple of weeks largely thanks to Fujifilm UK featuring my images as part of their ‘Pic of the Day’ series for a full week from 5th December – 9th December. I’ve also recently blogged it, alongside it featuring amongst my portfolio and (at the time of writing) on my homepage.
I love what it symbolises and I love the simplicity when light and shade works well together. I wont go into huge amounts of detail (trying desperately to stick to writing blogs that are slightly more concise, succinct, non-rambley, to the point, straightforward…oh wait); if you’d like to read more about please check out it’s ‘What it Means to Me’ post here.
Long story short, this particular staircase at Manor by the Lake often makes for some lovely moments despite being a bit of a challenge for lighting. It leads the bride down from the bridal suite to the room where the ceremony is held, a walk that must seem very exciting and nerve-wracking all at once. Some of the pomp and circumstance / grandeur associated with weddings feels stripped away here. I personally feel like this image brings the day down to earth, which is something that I aim for in all of my images.
