Door 12: Smiles on the Dancefloor
Fujifilm X-Pro 2 – 16mm 1.4 – 1/30sec – f/11 – ISO 6400 – EF-X20 Flash
Today we have another favourite of mine from the past year. Dancefloor pictures tend to come out of the blue – I compose them as best I can and look out for the moments, but often it’s actually quite dark in the wedding reception which can make it that bit harder to read the scene. Sometimes you think you’ve got a great moment, and actually it doesn’t look that brilliant when you get it into the editing process. Equally there are just as many occasions when a picture will come out looking pretty good that you didn’t think was going to work out.
This is the latter – I didn’t really know that I’d captured such a lovely moment until the editing began. I’m quite fond of how the flash has picked out the couple and nothing else, leaving the rest of the photograph in shadow.
The wedding was photographed in Bath about two months ago and was the source of a couple of other favourites of mine. There were some fantastic moments (alongside some very funny ones too) from this wedding that have found their way onto my portfolio.
