2014 has been an incredible journey for Novel Focus Photography, and for me personally. There has been a huge amount of change this year – so much has happened that as I write this it feels like 5 minutes have passed since last New Year’s Eve.
If you’ve read any of my older blog posts you’ll have seen that we photographed our first wedding a few years back and have been crafting our photography skills since. Last December brought about the idea of taking my skills as a photographer to the market with a website, and so began January with a clear vision of what I wanted to achieve. First came the name referencing the approach to our photography (and business) from a completely unique perspective, hence Novel Focus. Then came the logo, intended to be clean and simple whilst using my own handwriting to show our personal touch to everything that we do. The website went online for testing in February and was officially live as of May, generating over 1,000 views in the first month alongside a influx of bookings for the remainder of 2014, 2015 and even as far ahead as 2016. As the website slowly worked up through the ranks of the likes of Google, interest in our photography grew more and more leading to a change in our package structure to further support our mantra of creating a truly bespoke and customisable photography service. As mentioned in a previous blog post, some website upgrades and a bit of a facelift took place earlier this month to leave us with a sleeker interface.
The photography, editing and business side of things gathered momentum and we finished the Summer/Autumn stretch with a whole host of different shoots under our Novel Focus belts. The unsung hero of the year has undoubtedly been my second photographer, Mike, who joins me at each session and crafts every single shot he takes usually from a little distance back capturing angles to show the unfolding events from a different perspective. My thanks go out to him for all of his amazing work this year.
I have thoroughly enjoyed every second of being a part of Novel Focus Photography this year, and really can’t wait to get started on what is promising to be a spectacular 2015. 12 months, 2,000 edited photographs (or thereabouts) and 22 blog posts down the road…we are ready for the New Year!
