So you’ve just got engaged? Congratulations! Now, where to get married? How about a cinema?
Last August we had the great pleasure of photographing Claire and James’ wedding in Bath (full wedding blog post coming soon). Their day was amazing on so many levels, one of which being the venues. Despite the title for this particular post, there were actually two venues involved in the main part of the day. The first was the Little Theatre (a cinema), and the second was the Komedia (generally a comedy club) both situated in the centre of Bath. In today’s post; the Little Theatre.
Honestly, the thought of photographing a wedding in a cinema would make most photographers break out in a cold sweat; no light usually equals tricky conditions. There’s no denying that it was a challenging place to take pictures, but it’s also full of character. Part of this was aided by the brilliant attention to detail from Claire and James, complete with tickets for entry, trailers before the ceremony, 3D glasses for the guests (see below), and popcorn and champagne after the ceremony. The normal entrance for the cinema takes you through the box office, but for the wedding they opened up two doors directly at the back as the guests all graced the red carpet before taking their seats. You would have thought confetti might be tricky, but the cinema had this sorted and used fans on a balcony above the main aisle to spray confetti as the bride and groom left the ceremony.
Take a look at some shots below. Next time in ‘Venue Visits’ we’ll be looking at their reception venue; the Komedia.
