F.A.Q
Before you book you’ll probably have lots of questions. Here are some I’ve been asked the most. I’m always more than happy to answer any others you might have, so don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Can we meet you before we book?
Yes; I offer a free consultation for anyone considering booking with no obligation at all. I do not expect to receive a deposit in this meeting, it’s just for you to meet with me, take a look at some of my work and talk through any plans you’ve got for your big day.
Will you visit the venue before the wedding?
I visit every venue about 2 weeks before the wedding to look for areas that might be nice for photographs alongside testing the conditions of the light. It is something that I feel is an important part of the planning process and helps me to ensure that I can get the best possible photographs for you on the day.
How many group/formal shots can we have (if we want them) on the day?
I understand the importance of group shots, and technically there is no limit to the amount that can be taken. However, each takes around 4 minutes (at best) so you may need to decide between how much time you’d like me to be capturing guests and yourselves enjoying the day and how much time you’d like to spend photographing groups. Should group shots be required, an usher / groomsman / bridesmaid / person with a loud voice(!) will be required to gather relevant guests for groups, as this speeds the process up (I can photograph a group while they gather the next group). Please consider this when planning your day.
How long can we spend doing couple / posed pictures on the day?
If you’re interested in having posed images on the day it will take normally around 25 minutes depending on the venue and conditions. Please consider this when planning the timings for your day.
What will you wear on the day?
I aim to blend in as much as possible, so I dress like a guest with jacket and shirt. I generally do not wear a tie as it can get in the way with cameras. If you have any special requirements for your day please let me know in advance.
How will bad weather affect images?
Some of my favourite photographs are rainy day ones! Group photographs of everyone/a large number of people are generally quite difficult to do inside and most venues do not have the space / elevation requirements. Small groups are normally fine to do inside. I can create posed couple portraits inside also if required.
We have some ideas for pictures we’d like taken. Can we share them with you?
It’s great to hear ideas that couples have for images and I’m always open to ideas, however I won’t copy the images of other photographers. If you’ve booked with me your pictures will be in my style (and hopefully that’s why you book with me in the first place!).
